- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has recorded a total of 11,696 commercial crime cases from January 1 to May 12 this year.
- This rate is equivalent to an average of 88 cases per day, says the Director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of Bukit Aman, Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.
- According to him, however, the number of cases involved recorded a one percent decrease compared to the same period last year, which recorded a total of 11,834 cases.
- From the aspect of prosecution, a total of 5,550 investigation papers have been successfully charged in court during the same period, which is 47 percent of the total investigation papers opened.
- "The percentage of these charges is also better compared to the same period in 2023, which recorded a total of 5,367 charges or equivalent to 45 percent.
- “Based on the record, from January 1 to April 30 this year, the police have opened a total of 10,179 investigation papers while 67.3 percent or 6,855 cases of them involve syndicate crime cases,” he said today.
